OF WOMEN'S CLUBS

The San Gabriel Valley District #20 (SGVD) consists of 26 Federated Clubs with a combined membership of about 1,400. It is a member of the California Federation of Women's Clubs : (CFWC)

San Gabriel Valley District is located in AREA C and a part of the international GFWC General Federation of Women's Clubs: (GFWC).
The GFWC is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-profit, charitable organization whose purpose is to combine action among members for the benefit of our various communities through volunteer service.
The General Federation of Women's Clubs, one of the world's largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women's volunteer service organizations, was founded in 1890 and chartered by the 56th United States Congress in 1901.
Headquartered in a National Historic Landmark building in Washington, D.C., GFWC has a long history of philanthropy, social and political advocacy, and community leadership.
More than 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries work in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding.
In 2006, GFWC and its members raised nearly $32 million on behalf of more than 230,000 projects, and volunteered more than 8.4 million hours.
The SGVD co-operates with the CFWC and GFWC to promote activities in the departments of :

· CONSERVATION
· EDUCATION
· HOME LIFE
· PUBLIC ISSUES
· INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH
Each department is divided into several areas covering Legislation, Scholarships, Domestic Violence Awareness, Health, Safety, and Women's History and Resource Center.
In addition, members enjoy the added advantage of leadership training.
